Fatherhood

So, I wish I could say that I've been busy making new art for 2009, but so far that has not been the case. Instead, I have been happily caring for my baby girl, whom my wife and I adopted in December. Her name is Neko and although she is a handful, she has already inspired creativity in me which hopefully I will have time to execute soon. On top of my fatherly duties, my print shop is full of furniture while we put new floors in 2/3 of our house. Excuses, excuses, I know. Soon I will be back in action making new things. In the meantime, buy one of my calendars at etsy. Baby needs more diapers!

Gig Posters Volume I: Rock Show Art of the 21st Century

I'm excited about the new book from the creator of gigposters.com, Clay Hayes, called "Gig Posters Volume I: Rock Show Art of the 21st Century". Although its not scheduled to ship until April, he's got a fancy preorder on his site that gets you extra goodies. Why should you buy it? Because I'm in it!!

Magnolia Electric Company

I missed Tre Orsi but I did catch several of Will Johnson's songs. He is one of my favorite solo dudes, but I do love me some Centromatic as well. Magnolia put on a great show as always. The last song was just after midnight and Jason Molina wore a mask in honor of Halloween and the band busted into Hank Williams' "Move it on Over."

Reeperbahn Bound

Farley and I are headed overseas to sell posters at Flatstock Europe 3 at the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg, Germany. If you happen to be roaming around Hamburg on September 25 through 27, come on down to Spielbudenplatz and say guten tag. Many of my American co-horts will be there along with other poster artists from Europe and for just a few euros you will be able to buy limited edition posters and artwork directly from the artists.

Flatstock

Well, another Bumbershoot has come and gone and with it another Flatstock poster convention. I've been doing these things since the first one in 2002, and they are always good times. Unfortunately, I could not attend Bumbershoot this year. However, my friend Derrick who lives in Seattle was willing to operate my booth without me. What a guy! Here's a crappy phone photo by our pal Andy:

With Derrick doing Bumbershoot for me, it helps me save more $ for my trip to Germany for the Flatstock at Reeperbahn! I'm very excited to be going there. Here's a little more about the poster show.

My Morning Jacket at Austin City Limits

My Morning Jacket performed on Austin City Limits for the 2nd time and I was lucky enough to make a poster for the taping.
