The Captain

Frownland

My smile is stuck
I cannot go back t' yer Frownland
My spirit's made up of the ocean
And the sky 'n the sun 'n the moon
'n all my eye can see
I cannot go back to yer land of gloom
Where black jagged shadows
Remind me of the comin' of yer doom
I want my own land
Take my hand 'n come with me
It's not too late for you
It's not too late for me
To find my homeland
Where uh man can stand by another man
Without an ego flyin'
With no man lyin'
'n no one dyin' by an earthly hand
Let the devil burn 'n the beggar learn
'n the little girls that live in those old worlds
Take my kind hand
My smile is stuck
I cannot go back t' yer Frownland

Thank gawd for Don Van Vliet.

"MYSTERY TUBE" SALE!

I'm going to Europe in the fall to take part in the Flastock poster show at the Reeperbahn festival, and I really need to raise some $ to fund the trip.

What does this mean for you? Well, I'm glad you asked. I'm offering 5 random posters PLUS a lightweight and stylish t-shirt for only $60 post-paid to the US. All of my posters are hand-screenprinted and in edition condition. All are signed but not all are editioned.

Purchase here: http://www.gigposters.com/classifieds/detail.php?siteid=6857&pre=1

Act now and I'll include a screenprinted 2008 calendar! Yeah, well... there's still a few months left!

Dutch artist Bert Simmons has come up with a
cool technique for making realistic life-size replicas of people's heads out of paper... and I'm jealous.

Here's a little print (8x10") that I did for a print exchange organized by Leia Bell. She'll also be showing the whole series at her store "Signed and Numbered" in SLC.

Shearwater is closing a small American tour with a special performance here in Austin. Their new album "Rook" will be played in its entirety with all of the added instrumentation including strings, woodwinds and harp. I made this poster for the show. 19.5" square, four screens on French 30% recycled paper.

Roky Erickson

I'm very excited to make a poster for one of my musical heros and an Austin legend. This is a photo of the actual poster so the colors are a little funky.
